I had surgury on my right foot..fifth medetorso..had 3 inch screw put in..this was april 25 2017..it is now july 25 and my foot is swollen as ever..is this a problem i should worry about?
Are you walking in an ortho boot or regular shoe? What does your doctor say and do you have pain? I was 4 weeks non weight bearing after my surgery, 4 in an ortho boot then good to go. I think I had some swelling for a month after but not terrible. Keep it elevated when you can get off it.
Had the splint first..then the boot...now im in my sneakers n its 3 months to tje day that i had the screw put in...so om guessing the swelling is somewhat normal right?
I had similar surgey late March but I had 12 screws and other wires inserted). I was non weight bearing for 8 weeks (knee scooter was a lifesaver) and once plaster came off, in moonboot/cam-air walker for another couple of weeks. My foot is still swollen (and painful) so I wear solid walking shoes ((Rockport) with laces so I can adjust depending on how swollen/painful my foot is. Still walking with a crutch. This is the second time I have had surgery like this (same foot - now 24 screws and four plates) and swelling can last in excess of 12 months. You just need to be patient and let nature do its course. Good shoes are a must and listen to your foot - if it hurts, rest it. Good luck. 😊
Hi Sammy, I had 2nd and 3rd toe Osteotomy with screws in Feb this year. My foot still swells. I had to buy triple shoes. Still find sandals the best. When I wear full shoes swelling is worse. I was in a rocker boot walking on heel for 6 weeks x
I was reading up on this for you. Have you tried compression socks at all. You can buy these at Walmart. They really might help you. It helps with bad circulation in the feet and lower legs and you might be surprised when your swelling goes down the second day.
