Still unsure if the sertealine is agreeing with me. Has anybody else had these side effects?

firstly i want to apologise for the length of this post. Also to thank everyone in advance for reading it. I started my journey on sertraline 5 weeks ago for extreme anxiety. I'm told by my Gp that i'm lucky in the respect that it's only anxiety and i don't also have depression to contend with. My anxiety started in the form of panic attacks 2 months ago tingling sensations, chest pains erratic breathing etc. The first time it happened i ended up in hospital, since then i've had mri scans blood tests and ecgs. All came back fine apart from a trapped nerve which has been put down to being tense all the time. My Gp put me on 50mg of sertraline 5 weeks ago and told me to stay on that dose for at least 8-12 weeks. I'm sure i feel worse on these meds than i did before! i just want to ask if anybody else has had any of the same side effects that i get? Painful headaches in my temples and forehead. Sometimes muscle tremors, a lightheaded fuzzy feeling. Major loss of appetite, i have to force myself to eat small amounts and have lost weight! sometimes it feels like my vision isn't as sharp as it was before and also i often get aching in my muscles and joints. I really didn't have any of these symptoms before taking sertraline. I don't have everything all at once, sometimes i don't have a couple of them for a day or 2 then i'll get them again. I also don't get these symptoms all at once but at varying times throughout the day. I'm so confused as my Gp has put me on this medication to help with anxiety, if anything i feel it has made me worse. I now panic about every little symptom and worry about what is wrong with me. Surely this can't possibly be all related to anxiety? i've had all the health checks so in my rational mind i know it must be. Should i ride it out for the next few weeks or do you think these meds aren't for me? Any help and advice will be massively appreciated.

So basically you are on Zoloft (sertealine). There are a long list of side affects associated with this medication. Others have complained about zoloft on this forum as well. Side affects include; nausea, diarehea, loss of appetite, intergestion, change in sleep patterns, insomnia, fatigue, increased sweating, sexual problems, shaking, and agitation. Those are just the common side affects. Look, I would ask the doctor for something else, this medication is obviously not agreeing with your system. They may try to adjust your dosage rather than take you off and put you on something else, but thats your choice. If you dont like the way it makes you feel, its not going to get better by increasing or decreasing the dosage. Its your body, your mind, speak up to the doctor and let him know how you feel.

Thank you for your advice. After reading all the comments on here i do realise that it can take up to 12 weeks for the sertraline to settle in your system. However i really don’t think i can cope with this for much longer. Think i need to wean myself off them. Therapy is very expensive but i would rather try that than taking medication which makes me feel this ill.

so before you decide to wean yourself off the zoloft, go to the pharmacy or chemist and get yourself a bottle of St. Johns wart. Its a natural herb that controls anxiety. Start taking the St. Johns Wart for a week and then start to wean yourself off the zoloft. The St. Johns wart will take the place of the zoloft as you wean yourself off. After you have finished weaning yourself off the zoloft, continue taking the St. Johns wart as you would take the zoloft. You will feel much better and the withdrawals affects will be minimal. If you have Facebook, look up Tammie Holsinger and message her. Her profile picture is a white cake with pink trim. She will tell you how to maintain your anxiety while off your medication.

This is a natural way to save money and wean yourself off off zoloft without having bad withdrawal affects. Please listen to me and look her up. You will be glad you did.

Thanks for that i will look her up. I’m personally not on facebook but my partner is so will get him to look for her. I won’t be able to try the st johns wort until i’m fully weaned off sertraline as you can’t take it whilst taking this particular ssri. I’ve also been reccomended another herbal treatment called redicalm which i’ve looked up online and it does seem to have good reviews. Think i will be much happier on a herbal remedy than prescription meds as the side effects if any will surely be much easier to cope with.

The sertealine is Zoloft (here in the states). There is no reason you can not take the St. Johns Wart while on the zoloft. As a matter of fact it is recommended that you use the St. Johns wart while weaning yourself off the zoloft because it will help with the withdrawal effects of the zoloft. You can take asprin and ibruprofen while on zoloft, why would you not be able to take an herbal remedy ? Herbal remedies will not hurt you whether you are on zoloft or any other ssri. You need the St. Johns wart to keep you calm while coming off the zoloft, there will be withdrawals if you are serious about coming off the medication. I would not recommend taking the herbal remmedy if there was any chance it would hurt you. Do you eat vegetables while on zoloft ? How about drink beer or wine ? Same thing. Do not be afraid of the herbal remmedy while on the medication. Anyway, do it however you feel most comfortable. I would not advise anything that i would not do myself.

i would talk to your doctor and have him monitor your weaning off. he would know how to do it properly. also maybe see if theres something else you can try? theres tons of different medications out there and finding the right one usually requires a ton of trial and error. its frustrating sometimes but worth it once you find something that really works for you.

i took one tablet and had chest pain, sickness and dizziness like bothing ive had before.
never taken since x
