Still using crutch anyone

Hi I'm 10 wks thr and starting bck to work next week I'm fine on short walks but when I walk on a long walk my back and hip muscles really hurt still . Anyone else had this problem .

Hi Chloe, I'm 7 weeks post op and I'm the same and I also get some pain in the groin. I started back to work this week and it's been quite tiring and a little uncomfortable as I am standing a good part of the day.

I'm dreading it Julie-Ann as it seems to be hurting me more now than it was 3 wks ago not sure why , my knees are giving me pain as well . It could be my age. Lol.

I am 14 weeks post bi lateral hip replacement and still using crutches.   If I try to walk to long I get back pain and stitch like in my lower back.... and my thigh muscles hurt.

This is fairly normal 10 weeks is early to return to work.  What kind of work do you do>

Hi Chloebo

You may be limping and or holding your leg and body stiff when you walk...rather natural to do during the readjustment process.

Have you tried stretching?

kind regards

hi chloe,

you had major invasive surgery and your body is still in major healing mode -

A great deal of the recovery takes place in the first two months, but complete return to normal takes longer. Bone around the metal parts keeps changing and remodeling for 1 to 2 years after surgery.

your brain is figuring out to walk properlywith new hardware and this might take some time too - there is so much more involved in this journey, darling -

nothing unusual about using walking aid for as long as you need it ---

are you going back to work full time?   and are you looking forward to it?

big warm hug

Hi, I am almost 14 weeks post op,  walking without stick but not really walking as before my op. My back aches and I do get wobbly, it's a bit unnerving.

good luck for the future x

I am 15 weeks bilateral THR... and still using crutches outside.   Indoors I can wobble around.... have had a touch of bursitis which delayed my recovery.. also due to knees I doubt I will loose my New Best Friends!!!

If I try to walk any distance without my back hurts, and the full weight bearing ie standing in one position is painful.

Am hoping to start physio in water, private classes which I think will help.

normal...I finally settled on being mobile not pretty....I worked on the pretty last. hugs

hi elaine ,

just keep using the walking aid - there is no shame in it, you know --

I also had bursitis in my old new hip (1st THR)  and it delayed my progress - but hey, what-ya gonna do  -

our body has to heal from this invasive surgery .. it is so easy to push her and be disgruntled, instead of grateful and gentle ...

you are doing good, darling -

I lived near a natural hot spring and I walked miles in that pool...it did me a lot of good...
