21/2 weeks post tkr and now the slightest touch maybe from a sheet or similar makes me cry with the stoning psin
help please
It sounds like nerve pain.
Go and see your Dr and ask for tablets specific to nerve pain, the usual panadol etc isn't very effective. I now 7 months p.o and still occassionallly get shooting pains through the scar tissue, i have amitriptylline for night time pain and it works really well.
Good luck x
Thank you will try your advice via Dr biggest problem due to heart condition I can't have anti inflammatory drugs
My knee is still very sensitive at 7 weeks post op, I have be careful what material I wear next to my skin and can't stand anything tight that could rub against my knee, have had a nightmare with bed sheets, managed to find some soft ones I could cope with eventually!
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Hi, I found it best to desensitise the scar as soon as you can. Massage is the best way forward using a good quality oil either bio oil or a good vitamin E oil, it will help desensitise the scar and also help smooth the scar.massage also helps stop the formation of scar tissue. I just can't remember how soon after surgery to start it!!!! If anyone can help as I need to start it on my second tkr after having my staples out yesterday, I think it was after any scabbing falls off
Thank you all for your thoughts how you worked out my post I don't know haha stinging pain of course. Re pain in bed I have an all singing all dancing chair which I have found the very best to sleep,as for bed I have a small foot stall when put in the bed keeps the covers off,I used a lot pre op.
just as I was getting knee pain a little better this now comes along
Hi, Chris, as has been mentioned in passed topics with your pain, a few good suggestions. Wrap snuggly but not too tightly with plastic cling wrap, a silk scarf, or a length of soft fabric. It seems the pressure and barrier helps with that horrid sensitivity without resorting to more drugs. Definitely worth a try. I found the trick while searching for this group on a YouTube. It was weird and simple, why not give it a try. Best night sleep in weeks!
You have to wait till all scabs have cleared
Chris, like others before on here, a knee replacement just keeps on giving! You just sort one pain/problem out and another rears its ugly head!! Just keep keeping on, it does get better, I'm ten weeks and doing well, I found at four weeks things got much better. Good luck
Thanks Sharon , thought it was just need some confirmation
It's been 20 months since my bilateral TKR, I'm not sure at 2 1/2 weeks I was able to massage it. I asked my PT what was okay. He actually recommended something other than an oil. I want to say it was Hydra or Aqua something. Then I later used the Bio oil - which I really don't think is worth the money and would stick with either coco butter or vitamin E. Again, that would be in another week or so.
Thank you all so much what stars you all are so often you come across cranks on the Internet but this site and those on it are as we say across the pond 'sound' thank you
