Stings badly when using lube!

I’m a virgin. I met my partner (who is also a virgin) about 7 months ago and we’ve been trying to have sex for 3 months now. We’ve tried Durex lube, personal KY lube, and my GP gave me the most sensitive one that they use for pap-smears. Every time any lube enters my vaginal area inside, it stings! Like insane stinging! I went to a sexual health professional and she said that I might have sensitive skin and gave me some steroid cream to help it, but I only put it on outside my entry. We then tried some alternatives like olive oil as lube, and that stung as well. I don’t know if I have thrush (that I didn’t realise), if it’s an STI, if I’m allergic to anything (I’ve never been allergic to anything), or my vagina’s just toxic. I am starting to run out of options, and I wonder if anyone out there has experienced anything similar and what have they done

Hi Ashleigh, all water based lubes sting me. I can only use natural oils or pure silicone lube. I use coconut oil because it has anti bacterial, anti inflammatory and anti fungal properties. I also use Yes oil based lube which contains all natural organic oils that are very nourishing. However, I am concerned that olive oil stings you and that is a natural oil. Have you tried pure silicone lube? I am fine with that too and it is very very slippery. It has to be pure silicone with nothing else added. I used Astroglide Diamond lube.

Hi Ashleigh,

I would recommend ruling out that you have thrush with the test at the GP.  I'd also be interest to know whether you have tried having intercourse without using lube? If so does it also sting?

Hi I can definitely recommend Yes lube a gynaecologist recommended to me and it certainly has helped me loads!
