Stomach cramps and diarrhea for three weeks.

I'm 20 years old and a couple of weeks after moving to France, I started having problems with my bowel. It got worse until I started having diarrhea and with the exception of two days, I now wake up each morning needing to go. I went to a doctor last week and they gave me some medication for slowing my bowel movements and firming up everything. It worked on the fourth day but now I've stopped using the medication and it's started up again. I was on a bus home last night and I was actually incontinent cry I'm fine for the most of the day but sometimes it's just debilitating. I've been looking online and it seems that I'm a match for IBS. Can anyone help?

Ho JE. I wouldn't label yourself so soon. You've only just moved   New places as such trigger different bowel movements. Whether it be constipation or diarrhoea. Your change in water/ what foods are cocked with - it could be anything. Sometimes the more you worry about symptoms the more you need the toilet. Sometimes it's mind over matter. If you're that worried get doctor to do blood tests to rule out anything of symptoms are still the same in a week. You could've picked up a bowel parasite ...

Ok, thanks, I'm going to see what happens and if it's still like this in a week I'll go back to the doctor.

If you're not a stressy person and never had IBS before, then as LittleWinnie says it could be anything, esp when you're in a new country - diff food, water, etc.

But, if you do tend to be stressy then the strain of moving to a new country could just be too much for you and your body has responded accordingly.

Don't worry about having an accident - it's mortifying but if you read the forums you ain't the only one who's done it.

My mum is a chronic IBS sufferer and she wakes up needing to go, and depending on how things are can go multiple times in the day and at night. And urgency is typical too.
