2 months ago I had sudden sharp pains in my stomach. Around this time I also began to have, what felt like heartburn- which I had never had before. After a couple of days the pain had not subsided and I noticed diarrhea. After around 2 weeks of little food and only eating plain rice, eggs etc. I began to feel better, though the diarrhea had not completely subsided. After a week of eating normally again I began to feel the pain again and it all came back to me. A burning sensation deep in my chest, pains in my stomach, gas, diarrhea etc, and this time with long strands of mucus in my stool. I have been very careful with what I eat and drink but still have symptoms. I'm only 27 and have never had any issues with my stomach. I have now had, heliobacter pylori test, blood tests, stool tests for parasite, viral and bacterial and had an ultra sound. All came back clear (except for non-alcoholic fatty liver) and the doctor has just told me its IBS. Has anyone had any similar situations or may know what this may be?

yeah . i get the same symptoms usually about twice a year. i have ibs and i know it must be this because ive had all the tests and the dreaded camera down throat. im just going through a bout of it now. it starts with pain in stomach that comes in waves. then start clearing throat all the time and keep bringing food liquid up into throat. then i get a pain n left side abdomen and this is what starts fever. i feel naff for about a week. To get myself better i only eat meat eggs bananas and low fodmap foods .
Over the years i have episodes of IBS manifested with various symptoms. Abdominal pain , severe cramps , urgency, diarrhea and acid. I recently found Silicolgel. This is a natural substance with no side effects and what a relief. Its not cheap £18 for 500ml but only 15ml needed 3 times a day. Worth it as only one day of treatment and i feel back on track after a month of problems. Some chemists stock it but Amazon is where i bought it originally.
