Stomach pains, is it gallbladder?

So for the past few days I have had off and on pain just under my ribs in the front. And my upper back, by my shoulder blades has hurt off and on for a while. Last night the pain and cramping got really bad and my stomach felt rock hard to touch. I ended up throwing up and feeling a bit better(it didn't look like anything I had eaten) Today I still have pain in my upper belly, and I'm burping a lot.. a friend said it could all be my gallbladder. What should I do? And could it be anything else?

Go to your doctor, it sounds a lot like my symptoms before I had my gallbladder removed.

Hi Jackie,

I am waiting for a gallbladder removal due to gallstones.

The gallstones pain starts with a heartburn sensation in the centre of the chest which just gets stronger. I get bloated, stomach may feel hard and you feel like you want to throw up or sit on the toilet at the same time.

The pain will be intense, I suppose depending on size of the stone.

which will not allow you to lie down, it is relieved when sitting in a fetal position. Now this pain could be for 30mins or from what I had for 6 days.

But please note once it passes you will feel great straight away but just sore in that area chest area. Burping is a good sign.

The thing to try and note is what brings it on, I found it could be overeating, drink pop with food maybe causing a blockage or sleeping on a full stomach therefore forcing a stone through. I don't know if this is true but this is my personal belief. There is not real information on how this all works.

i just drink a lot of water and live on a low fat diet. We'll I know my limits I suppose.

I hope this helps.

Ajay

Thanks for the help. I haven't had any heartburn. But I also never have before.. I just have the weird stomach pain.. and it was the both ends, and both were odd colors compared to what I ate. I'm still feeling the pain off and on. It's better when my stomach is empty.
