Stomach pains

I have had some issues over the last few years which has resulted in me reducing my food intake, amongst other thing. I have lost a lot of weight. About 1 year or so ago I started getting a stabbing pain in the left side of my stomach. About 8 months ago I started getting pain and pressure in my lower back on the left. After 2 month I told my GP. They sent me for an ultrasound and blood tests. Everything came back ok. The pain is getting worse, I take paracetomol and Buscapan and have been so bad I had to go to A&E. I am still waiting for a referral appointment although I have no idea what I have been referred to. We tried to ask the Hospital how long I would have to wait, they said they dont know and that was 3 months ago so I have accepted the fact that they are not going to help me. I do not have the money to go private, but i guess the bad things have been ruled out unless they was not telling me the truth. The strange thing is that the back pain only started when I was given an anti sickness injection in A&E once because of something that happened to me, the pain started instantly and it felt like I was totally stoned. I told the Dr and he acted like he had no idea what I was talking about.

Does anyone know what could be the cause of this.

Hi, are you in the UK. You should have been referred to Digestive Deseases. Unfortunately, we have to wait a very long time to get an appointment with a consultant. who will then decide what tests you may need. It could be a colon CT. The hospital will help you, you just have to be prepared to wait to be seen. Also, you could be allergic to the type of antisickness drug you were given. There are, many different types. It will be in your notes what you were given. So, you need to know what it was. I believe A&E send a report to your GP. Who, I think, you need to go back and see.

First try Nurofen and Buscopan instead of Paracetemol which I find is not strong enough for IBS pain.  Nurofen and Buscopsn help me.  Your hospital appointment will likely be to see a gastroenterologist.

You may have reacted to the anti sickness drug or maybe they hit a nerve and this is what has caused pain.  I react to a lot of things doctors give me and on one occasion, an untrained healthcare assistant hit something while trying to do a blood test for me and left me in permanent pain.  The stress led to IBS two months after the incident.

NHS appointments can take a long time to come through, but you will be helped.  Don't give up. See someone different if necessary.
