Hi I've been taking propranalol 40mg twice a day for 2 weeks. Seeing as it's such a short time frame I thought I'd be fine just quitting them due to them making me feel unwel and low in mood. Turns out I'm having really bad withdrawal symptoms I.e feeling shakey, jittery, vomiting, it's been 3 days since I last took a propranalol. Any ideas how long withdrawals last? As I'm scared I've done some damage just quitting cold turkey... 2 weeks is such a small space of time I really thought I'd be fine to just stop. Any advice, support greatly appreciated. Leanne
Hi Leanne,
I have just experienced the same thing with Propanolol. I was prescribed 10mg twice a day for anxiety but didn't get on with it as it made me feel totally exhausted! I reduced the dose initially but this didn't help so have now stopped taking it. I was on it for a total of just under 2 weeks. Like you, I experienced shakiness and felt jittery on withdrawal plus an increase in my anxiety palpitations which is why I was put on it in the first place! However, I am cutting down on one of my antidepressants as well so it could be a combination of both. I have been off it a week now and am starting to feel slightly better but I guess everyone is different. Hopefully your withdrawals should be gone soon. Good luck and let me know how you get on. Hope this helps.
Hi Vicki thanks for the reply... I went to the doctors this morning because I felt so bad with my Anxiety. The doctors have put me back on propranalol at a lowere dose 2 x 10mg a day as they said my dose was maybe to high that's why they made me feel ill. And theyve also upped my venlafaxine from 150 to 225 as they said in higher doses it helps anxiety aswel as depression x
Good luck, Leanne. I hope the new doses help and you feel better soon.
