stopped taking my Prozac for a while and just started again and now I’m feeling really weird?

i started taking Prozac (fluoxetine) a year ago, and then I stopped taking it about 3-4 months ago. I had started at 10 mg and my doctor gradually increased my dose to 40 mg. Lately I’ve noticed my mood declining  so I started taking it again but I feel really weird. I feel almost high and I’m laughing at everything but I’m also sweating cold and my heart is beating super fast. Could it be because I jumped in again at a 40 mg dosage instead of gradually increasing like it should be? And yes i know I should’ve never stopped in the first place. Should I be worried that I overdosed or something like that, or do I just have to ride out the symptoms until my body gets used to it again. I’m okay with feeling the happy high I actually like it, but it’s the tachycardia and the cold sweats and shakes that’s really annoying. I’m a 17 year old female if that helps. Thanks smile

yes, you shaould have not stopped in first place..

instead of worrying, consult the doctor..

of course, one should take dosage which is just right..

and underdose is better than overdose..

being instate of happy high for too long may not be very good.. Though happy high for short duration is ok.

In long run what we need is peace calmness and stable mind in equilbrium and not excited mind.( as evident from tachycardia)

God bless you

so i feel better talk to doctor,, may dosage reduction will help..

You probably will find you have jumped in too fast. With them kinds of meds you need to increase slowly. Bcoz you are so young jumping back in wont be great for you that's probably why ur feeling the way you are. Meds can take days, weeks, months to level out in ur system and work the way they should. Relax and go and speak to ur doctor or the pharmacist they will help u out but get to see ur doctor

Keep smiling and have a nice day

Does your Doctor know you have started taking this medication again ? are the medications from an earlier time ?

You will need to give this medication time to work again, about five weeks, you will know the drill, your GP will keep an eye on you

Thanks for all your replies. I can’t tell my doctor that I started again, because that would mean telling him that I stopped in the first place and they’ll consider it “recklessness” then I will be baker acted again. So pretty much just ride it out for the next few weeks, and then it should stop? Luckily the side effects like the shakiness only last like an hour.

well, doctor will be just somewhat annoyed and may speak a bit tough . thats all..

it should not matter much..

anyway, this is typical problem with people having depression and anxiety , that they magnify small problems into big ones.

so have little courage .
