Hi All,
After a year of taking Sertraline (100mg) I've now stopped under the guidance of my GP, the last one was eight days ago and I feel fine, no withdrawal effects, this is just to say I know anxiety will always be with me, Sertraline helped me, and gave me my life back, I'm back to my confident self, have a new job and everything is good, anyone can get there so just keep on whatever medication you're on, or if not on any and scared to start, give it a go, it won't kill you, I promise, then when you're feeling better, with your GP's advice taper off, good luck to everyone, you can do it, you can get there, and you can be happy again !!!!

So glad to hear your positive story John, thank you for sharing and giving others hope! I am 9 weeks into taking Sertraline for anxiety and I feel like I'm on the road to recovery too. I held off meds for so long but I am now so glad I gave it a go. Best wishes to you.
That's so refreshing to hear.
iv been on it for 5months and I'm planning on having a year on it too.
then see how I feel.
i hope I get good guidance from my gp like you had, so I get minimal or no withdrawal effects
good health and happiness to you 😁
Welldone john , did you used to suffer with i intrusive thoughts at all ? Or OCD ? If so did sertraline help
Hi Clay 1,
Yes some intrusive thoughts, and to be honest, mabaye even now, but keep them at bay, I suffered from anxiety for many years, didn't know what it was because no one else suffered from it, and between my wife and I figured it out, then started taking Sertraline and it worked, good luck !!
Hi Julie,
Go for it, my problem was anxiety, but Sertraline helped me, keep on going you'll get there, good luck !!
John
Hi Laura,
I held off for a long time also, but now I'm at the other side, it wasn't easy, but Sertraline really helped me, keep on going please, and you'll get there also, best of luck !!
John
This gives me hope, thank you for posting
Hi Lorraine,
If I can help, and give a little encouragement, well, hopefully some will feel better, just remember, it's not giant steps, it's little ones, but there is still an end goal, good luck Lorraine.

Hi john did you find that when on sertraline you feel like you lose the feeling to love ? Is this a side affect ? Will it pass ?
Hi Clay,
Yes, I lost my libido, it's a well known side effect, for me while on Sertraline it stayed that way, and didn't subside until I stopped taking it, and after about day three or four, my libido returned, but my wife and I decided this was a price we had to pay to get me well again !!
John
Yeah I get that but did it feel like it affected your feeling for your wife like made it feel quite hard to be around and make you question your love
Clay,
It never affected me like that, but maybe because I have a very strong marrige, and I've never questioned my love for my wife, with or without medication !
I started sertraline almost a week ago and I know it super early in the medication but I actually feel an increase in my sexual desire...I was surprised I thought I was going to read the side effects and it say increased libido.
