Strange feeling in chest.

So I am 14 years old, and I think I am anxious, but I want to hear it from someone else.

I often have shortness of breath probabbly bcs of allergies. I went to Dr said that I have shortness of breath. I didn't even have time to say shortness of breath and she said anxiety.

Few weeks later came bcs of different chest pains. Did blood test anD ECG. It is all normal. She said that it is either from anxiety or back pain. I don't do any sports, am kind of sitting and doing nothing all day.

Oh I also have OCD and am hypochondriac. No heart diseases in family, but I can't help myself.

I am scared. Please help me.

Hi tim,

I am 18 and feel the same way as you. It can be very frustrating when it seems as though doctors are just dismissing our symptoms as anxiety. Especially as a hypochondriac (I am also) these symptoms are very real and quite scary to us. The ECG should help put you a little at ease. I am no doctor, but you are very young and any unwarranted heart problems at your age are extremely rare, especially without any family history of hear problems.

Anxiety puts a lot of stress on your mind and body. I too had chest pains, in my left side specifically, that felt so strange to me, like a "full" feeling. I even thought I was having a heart attack. They come and go from time to time. Now I am having headaches that also come and go. My doctor also told me this is from anxiety. Anxiety often manifests itself physically. That being said, it's important you get help if you are not already so you don't continue to feel this way. Being anxious about your health will only increase your physical symptoms. Anxiety is no fun, especially when it is health related. Feel free to reach out. I hope you start to feel better soon.

Yes exactly that "full feeling" very strange. Every month I worry about something else like 2 months ago was afraid of brain tumor. Now afraid of heart. I was at 2 different Dr and tgey said I am fine. I do belive to them, but still. Should I be worryed? I hope you will feel better too.

I do not think you should be worried. Doctors know a lot more than we think they do. Anxiety will trick you into not believing them. I am the same way! Right now I can’t shake the thought I have a brain tumor. A week ago it was HIV. A few weeks ago it was heart failure. Just how our brains are wired to work

Thank you. I understand what you are going through.
