Hi. You're all going to think I'm a little strange. Does any of you, while drinking or recovering smell their hands( well between the fingers) and it smells different? It's a smell I can't really describe but I actually like it. It reminds me of my brother who died. It's weird but it's not a horrible smell, it's nice ?
I always used to think that I had a faint smell of garlic coming out of my pores when I'd had a skinfull.
I didn't know about it, but I googled:
Alcohol Withdrawal strange
and it automatically tacked "smell" onto the end, so I guess it's fairly common. Though it's not the same smell for everyone.
It was onions for me. Not only my hands.
That's interesting; I mainly stunk of scotch when drinking then when sober, people used to say that I smelled of onions. I like onions but I didn't eat loads of them everyday.
' wonder what the experts say?
Not had a smell from my hands but I know when I've drunk a lot the night before my poo stinks in the morning.....I know.....TMI!!
Lactulose, that's the stuff you want, clears your system out and nothing has time to ferment.
,
Is that a medicine or can I get it from Holland and barratt as I'm just passing one now
A Holland and barratt I mean ![]()
'Fraid not, it isn't prescription, but it is behind the counter pharmacy only.
Stiil, if you go into hospital with alcohol/liver problems, they'll probably give you a lactulose enema and believe me, that will clear your system.
Just make sure you have a clear run at the toilet, you don't need anything getting in the way of your panic to hit the pan, before all hell breaks loose.
I never noticed a smell....actually when not showering for days on end...my boyfriend used to comment that it was strange that I did not have an odor and that my hair still smelled good with all the smoking and drinking.
I don't think your STRANGE....I love new topics and things that make me think of the things that happen to me and others when we drink!
Well, Paper fairy, you will think I am strange. I have no idea what my hands could smell like... drinking time or not. I wash my hands obsessively ! I use Dermol... rinse... no smell that I can sniff !! I have no idea what I am trying to clean away. I have to use the Dermol because soaps and handwashes have dried my skin out... allergic reactions etc. I would not like to count how many times I wash my hands , in a day. It must be at least 10 times every waking hour. I have never shared this information, before. STRANGE !
Oh well, we all have our little ways.

A lot of people with problems like ours have OCD.I know I have but not with things like cleaning but more my thought process.Im obsessed with being late as well,so much so that I'm always super early for everything
Hi. Yes a lot of us are ocd. All the best people are, David Beckham is, haha!! I'm not over the top and try not to let it take over my already crazy mind. Like keeping house tidy, everything in place, like cushions , wonky pictures. I have to stop my mind from controlling me in this way. Bringing up 3 kids helped me to let go and go with the flow! Impossible to have a spotless house with young kids. Going to the loo in public, once I've flushed the loo and washed hands, I use a paper towel when opening the door so don't get germs!!
Re the smell. It's not a dirty unpleasant smell like if you haven't washed for days, I get it when I'm ill too. Think it's just toxins really. I'm not a smelly sweaty person.. Lol
Hi Nicole,
I am sure that I have OCD, but... I don't want to admit it. It is with certain things... like handwashing. I cannot clean the mess around me, in my bedroom, where I spend most of my time. I hate mess... but I live like a MESS... everything around me is in chaos.
I am always late for everything... no matter how hard I try. Hate it.

You might be surprised about what sorts itself once you get alch out of the way. At the very least it'll likely be easier to make changes when you don't have your mind flinging stuff at you from all directions. My place has been a mess for years, all of a sudden I feel like processing chunks of it. I even ironed my shirts the other night, something I haven't done for decades! Sometimes the old trick of getting them from the dryer at the right time and giving them a shake and smooth just doesn't get it. The ones that didn't work for just didn't get worn anymore unless it was under a sweater...
Hi ADEfree. The weird thing for me is, last time I totally quit drink... I didn't get tidy. I was still in a depressed, messed-up, messy place. I think my mind may be a minefield.
I hope for better times.
I hope you are well.

I'm rather fragrant, too ! LOL
Also... I LOVE Chanel No.5 ! My luxury !! Better than booze... but I can't drink it !!! LMFAO
My house is a mess as well,I hate housework!...I do the necessary stuff like the washing but very rarely iron.If you get stuff out if the washing machine straight away and put it in hangers it doesn't need ironing lol.
I don't open the curtains because it shows up the dust and the dog hairs.
