Strange sounds in the night

Yes, this is a weird one. I started taking 10m Citalopram daily from last week. I feel a tad more relaxed but I've been experiencing strange noises when I'm sleeping. They are all electronic, last night there was something resembling a 3-note ring tone, very loud and I was woken up by it. I've only heard these while sleeping and they stop as soon as I wake up.

After reading about brain zaps on here, I don't feel much like continuing. Anyone else suffered such noises?

i have been on these tablets for a lot of years coming of them now really helped me at the time never experience any strange noises at night time the brain zaps you r talking about r one of the symptoms when you are coming of them not nice at all i would give the tablets time and ask your doctor if anyone else has had these symptoms you are the first person i know of with this good luck hope you feel better soon x

I had something very similar occur, I would wake in the night having heard my doorbell ring.  I even got out of bed in the early hours and went downstairs to check in case it was a neighbour needing emergency help of some kind.  After a few occurrences on different nights, I came to realise what was happening.  It didnt happen whilst I was awake only when asleep and didnt seem to be connected to a particular dream sequence.  It doesn't happen any more.

I had brain zaps/ electrical buzzes initially when first on 20 mg. A few after maybe. Also got them when first started st jons wort....am wildly hoping it's all working and rewiring my brain....

Thanks, but I've decided I don't want my brain zapped. Best wishes to those who perservere and hope you are able to make the same decision soon.

I've been taking 20mg for about 5 weeks now & on about day 3, I woke up in the night cause I was sure I heard a big "crash" sound.  No one else heard it only me, I'd say it's another weird side effect.   It hasn't happened since though so I'll bet if you keep on the pills it will quit. Hopefully!!

hmmm.... I though brain zaps(ping as I call it) was a withdrawal effect.

Clearly not.

Correct

only got them in early days

didnt bother me

just accepted them as the side effect...

the drug worked great for me..
