Hi there ladies, I am just wondering if any of you have had issues with heavy coloniztion of strep b? I did not have this when I had my children both times I was tested, but now as I am in perimenopause it seems to come and go sometimes causing symptoms, other times not. I have been managing it with natural remedies as anything I have read said it is hard to clear up with antibiotics because it keeps coming back. The only think I can think that brought this on is my hormones constantly changing. Has anyone else had this?
I dont even know what heavy colonization of strep b is..
It is a bacteria that is commonly found in human beings (men and women) When women are pregnant they are swabed about 38 weeks of pregnancy to see if they have it, if they do they are treated with antibiotics through child birth as it can be deadly to unborn child. My gyno said it is a natual bacteria that comes and goes, but in immune comprimised it can be deadly. It usually doesn't cause any symptoms and people don't even know if they have it unless they care checked for it, however if there is a heavy colonization...meaning an over abundance it can cause vaginal infections, bladder infections or worse. It can mimic a yeast infection and often times women will treat themselves for yeast making things worse. It seems that hormones is what makes it go like wild fire.....I never had an issue until I approached perimenopause.....I never had it when I had my children over 9 years ago.
