I’ve been recently signed off by my GP because of stress and anxiety. I’ve also been very depressed. I’m sole carer for my 85 year old mother who is frail and not in the best health. I also have a stressful administrative job in th NHS which has become more stressful lately and it’s all become a bit too much. After a couple of meltdowns at work I went to the doctors and got signed off for two weeks. This is the end of my first week and today I had what could on
be described as a semi faint/ dizzy spell whilst out shopping. I managed to hold it together but only just and it wasn’t witnessed by anyone. I was determined not to be carted off anywhere!! The GP started me on mirtazapine on Monday so I suppose it could be my body adjusting to the medication. I’m also on citalopram (and have been for 8/9 years) and propanol for interim anxiety.
Wow you have so much going on in your life no wonder you are having escalation of problems. Lots of people just get up go to work come home watch TV and go to bed. How easy is that. You have a stressful job and stress at home so no escape. Meds take about 4-6 weeks to take affect. Sometimes it's better to walk away from a job that's causing stress. Which seems impossible but isn't.. I know. Yes money a problem....but what price health. I don't know where in world you are but can you get any help at home? Don't forget...stop giving to others all the time ..give to yourself
Thanks Glenn
Yes I didn’t realise how much stress I was under until recently but I’ve taken certain steps this week which will hopefully make things a little easier. I’ve got to see the GP again tomorrow but to be honest I’m not rushing back to work until I feel a whole lot better than I do now. Thanks for your kind words
