Stress Increase

Hey y’all,

I’m working, on average, about 60 hours a week at 2 jobs. In about a month, I move back to Chicago for school.

My stress has exploded. My anxiety is out of control. Most of it, currently, is health related. I freak out about my health (because of the pressure of 2 jobs and spending my last month with my girlfriend before I permanently move). I’m emetophobic so I’m constantly hyper aware of how I feel, and I constantly ask how my girlfriend feels. It’s gotten to the point where I regularly check my temp knowing I’m at a normal temp.

Also, my irritation is through the roof. I’m irrtated about all the littlest things—at my family, work, my girlfriend are not exempt from this—and it’s becoming a problem. I’ve never snapped at them but the negative emotions are constant.

In conclusion, my stress/anxiety is out of control. I’m tired of being irritated and negative all the time—any tips for me?

Slow down is the first thing to do

Your anxiety is high because your stressed and you have got yourself into an anxiety cycle

Most of the things you are thinking about are not even problems or issues but your height of anxiety is making you fixate on far too many issues

Slow down relax, get some rest, eat right and start to put all these thoughts into prospective

It’s not healthy to work so many hours it’s 100% why your anxiety id through the roof

Right down all the negative thoughts you are having then next to each one rate it 1-10  as an actual problem and then what really can you do to fix it can it be fixed or are you worrying about something that is out of your control

This will help your mind put things in prospective

Go and have some time for you and your girlfriend enjoy the finer things in life

Don’t let work control you this is a huge problem

Slow down breath and take stock

Your not thinking straight

Get back in control

Hey butch.  Working through your doctor, you could always resort to medicines and counseling to tamp this down.  However, maybe fitting in a regular exercise routine coupled with some guided mindfulness and meditation might be helpful.  And get proper sleep.  Also, do an assessment of your food/drink.  Adopt some healthy habits if you don’t already do so,  i.e. less/no caffeine, alcohol, and junk food.  I wish you well.  Good luck.

This is wonderful!! Thank you so much! I’ll definitely do this!!

Awesome. Thanks!! Is there a diet you’d recommend? I talked to a dietitian and she recommended proteins for breakfast with snacking during the day and a meal when most convienent.

My work schedule is 8:30-1:30 followed by rushing to my second job which is from 2-10:30. Dinner is at 5 or 5:30.

Do you have any tips for a busy day diet?

I’m no diet expert, however I “try” to stay away from fast foods, processed foods, sodas, caffeine, and alcohol.   Also, I eat smaller meals and not “fill” myself up.  Salads, fruit, fish, chicken etc. are good.   I exercise (running) 3 times per week for 40-60min to burn off any angst and calories. At night time I practice my meditation/mindfulness and breathing.  Hope this helps.
