Hi, I'm new to all this. I've been struggling with anxiety and OCD for the past couple of years, it seemed to have gone worse after losing my mum, I find it so hard being without her. I have tried counselling and it helps a little but I always end up back really struggling. Any tips on what helps anyone else feel less anxious?
Thanks
Hi Rebecca,
I'm sorry to hear about your loss and the difficult time you must be going through.
Similar to yourself I suffer with anxiety and have found it hard to cope over the past year mainly because I haven't had anyone to talk to who is going through the same issues. So I think you've took a great step already by coming onto the forum as just by reading about everyone else's experiences has made me realise that I'm not alone.
After trying many things recently I've started to go to the gym and learn a bit more about nutrition as a way of healing. After the gym (or any exercise) I'm more relaxed and find it easier to sleep on a night, in general I just feel better. Nutrition wise all I drank was coffee (worst thing for my anxiety), diet coke and ate processed foods which though may not have a direct link to anxiety I thought I'd give it a shot anyway as things could only improve by putting better nutrition into my body. Though it's early days I do feel a difference. If anything it's just one more load of my body.
There are still manic moments where I will have an anxiety attacks but they are becoming less and less, for really bad moments I carry Kalms which seem to help a little, though not straight away and they do make you a little tired.
Anyway I just thought I'd share a few things I'm trying at the moment which I hope helps even a little, there are some great people on this forum so I'm sure you will get some good advice.
Other than that don't forget to smile and laugh

Aww thank you so much! I struggle going sleep at night too takes me ages to switch off and fall asleep. I've thought about doing excersise and doing a healthy diet because it does actually help. But I give up with it so easily. I also have Kalms too, but I don't take them as much as I probably should. Thank you so much for taking the time and giving me your advice. I shall try stick at doing the excersise thank you. Means alot.
Reading your comment has made me feel like I'm not the only one that goes through it all and suffers from anxiety.
Glad to hear your ok and your able to manage your anxiety and happy you've found ways to help you.
Thank you, hope you have a nice day
