Hi all. I suffer with anxiety and have done for a year now. I am taking setraline prescribed by the doctors. I struggle mainly when it comes to socialising and when I'm outdoors, mainly because I feel spaced out and dizzy. I need to know if this is common and maybe I can start to accept that this is anxiety and I will need to deal with it. Does anyone else have these symptoms? I'm a mum of 2 and work full time and anxiety is ruling my life at the moment. If the tablets are making me feel like this then maybe I am better off without them. Thank you for taking the time to read this
Hey Hun. How long have u been on sertraline and on what mg r u on? Don't feel down on yourself, u r doing a great job holding down a full time job and being a mummy to 2 kids. It's hard enough to look after yourself when u have anxiety let alone looking after kids, holding down a full time job, cleaning, cooking, etc etc. x
Hi honey jus to TRY & reassure you statistics say that 1 in50 suffer with anxiety never been on setraline (but offered) im on Quetiapine for GAD not surehow long youve been on these meds ? My meds make me unresponsive ; lightheaded; very sleepy; as they are primarily a sedative... but depends on the individual !
Anxiety is unfortunately prone to meds that try to relieve our symtoms ie socialization ;nervous dispositions; fear; etc i too have 2 children they are used to me now as they are 25 & 31 .... not sure its a good idea to be without meds thats why i asked the duration & strengnth is important if after a year then you need to talk to your doc as your symtoms should of by now somewhat subsided best wishes
hey nicola,
i to am a mother or 2 and have suffered from anxiety for over a year! it controls everything we do which sucks! i am on about week 6 or so of taking celepram 30mg. i had a but of a down time a few weeks ago because i went back to 20mg but am doing much better now.
did you have the dizziness and that before you started the medication. i had suffered from dizziness chest pain, arm pain, muscle tension/knots in my back and numbness in the face and neck for a while but being on celepram the side effects were exactly what i was having anyway just a bit increased anxiety.
i hope everything settles down for you soon !
Hi i had allergic reaction to Sertraline so I can't recommend it you could try something from health food shop or maybe hypnotherapy good luck
Thank you all for the kind words. It makes it slightly easier for me knowing there are other people suffering like me.
I have been taking setraline around 6 months and it has helped to an extent. I've recently upped my medication to 150 mg maybe this is why I'm feeling a bit light headed or maybe it all in my head and part of the anxiety monster? I've heard that anxiety medication can make you somewhat out of it but not sure whether this is correct. I hope we all manage to overcome this monster soon and have our life's back. My babies (aged 2 and 1) need a healthy mummy x
Thank hunni. I had some symptoms before starting the medication but not the dizzyness. It is so hard trying to live a normal life and having anxiety. Hope were both better soon xx
Yes I get spaced and dizzy and feel like I am half asleep and hardly able to stand when shopping. It happens when I have been off medication for about a month and I feel so unwell and faint sometimes. I have 4 children and my anxiety has gotten worse after each baby. I used to love shopping but now I feel panic and confused and out of it when at a mall and end up coming home early and wanting to hide under my blankets to Calm down
I can't manage with out medication. I have tried because I get a few adverse effects but it seems being anxious is way worse that taking drugs
hey noams,
i know exactly how you feel! i used to go shopping all the time with my 4 year old and after having my second who is 9 months i dont go shopping without my partner. i dont really go anywhere unless he drives me. i panic in the car especially when i have the kids. its sad how anxiety can rule everyday activities. i struggled for over a year with it and am finally on medication for it. it seems to have helped (i was getting really back physical symptoms from it aswell).
i never thought i had to resort to medication but if it works i will do it! i just want my life back and my independency aswell!
I was told.by a doctor once that medication allows us to heal and then learn new ways to cope for when we may no longer need to take drugs. No one can learn easily when anxious. I am so sorry to hear what you are going through and I hope in time you will feel 100% again
well thats it we just have to "reprogram" our brains to stop being so anxious. easier said than done but it can be done it time.
i hope you feel better soon to. i dont feel overly anxious but i dont feel happy/my old self either. it does take time tho and i know they are helping me i had to cut back from 30mg to 20mg because i was worried about the palpations which then brought back all the anxiety and made me depressed si ive been back upped to 30mg for 2 weeks now. but the doctor said i would possibly need to be upped to 40mg because of all the physical symptoms. but in going backwards i know now that they were working so heres to going forward!
hi,
Now a days, anxiety is very common but you should not take stress. Just do your work in relaxed mood. My uncle also have this problem but he do exercise daily and also take tablets for it. Tablet like zolpidem. It is easily available in UK. He is better now.
