Struggling really badly, doctors closed for Christmas.

I recently came off Citalopram because I felt like it wasn't doing much to help and I discussed with my doctor about starting a new antidepressant but now it's Christmas and the doctors is closed for a week. I'm struggling really badly, like panic attacks and everything without medication and I'm really desperate for something. Does anyone know what I can do? Or if I can get the meds from someone else like 111?

Please any help would be great.

Is there an urgent care clinic near you?

Not really anything I can get to in my state, I'm taking Kalms at the moment to try and reduce the anxiety but it's definitely not as helpful as antidepressants etc.

You could try Mindfulness to reduce your stress and Anxiety and Breathing Techniques can also help.

I gather you have stopped your Citalopram and your GP knows about that. If you have not been prescribed a new medication all you can do is contact the out of hours GP telephone number and seek advice.

Try 111, they can often get you a drs appointment at an out of hours service, just make sure you tell them how serious it is and how you’re feeling.

Maybe try a meditation app or colouring/reading in the mean time to try and distract you.

Good luck!

Hi

Try not to panic. NHS is 24/7 and if you ring 111 and r3quest a cqall from the Out of Hours drs they will arrange one for you. Tell 111 it is a medication enquiry that you have somehow ran out of your medication and it is essential that you ake it. Paramedics are not allowed to advise or prescribe medication so get right to the point and tell 111 it is about medication and cannot wait until the holiday period is ocver.

There should be a pharmacy open and also OOH may have the medication in stock.

Good luck.  Also you can ring the Samaritans for some support on 1116 1234 Freephone and in confidence.

Just keep positive.
