Struggling to deal with anxiety

Really struggling and I think one is coming on now, heart is beating really fast, thoughts racing, dizzy. Feel sick and can't catch my breathe

It's been getting really bad recently and I'm finding it so hard to deal with sad((

I've always had anxiety but has only just started with the attacks the last few weeks and it's made my depression worse, struggling so much at the minute sad

Anyone have any tips or things they do when they are having one? I'm just laying in bed feeling like passing out at the minute sad

I'm so sorry to hear you don't feel well. It's hell having anxiety, but remember it gets better and does not need to be a life long sentence. Have you seen your doctor yet?

some people say melatonin helps for anxiety...but it will also make you sleepy.

good luck, pos again and let us know how you are

I'm really struggling with my mood changes at the minute and dealing with this aswell is just so draining.

I'm seeing my doctor got next week when I fly home but I've had 3 anxiety attacks this week and this has been the worst sad

The past 3 weeks have been the worst of my life and I'm just so down at the minute sad

What helps me a lot is if I tell myself that this is just an old response pattern.  I also take a few deep breaths - try and relax you body, even if you can just relax your shoulders.  Then take a deep breath in - about 4 seconds, hold it for about 3 seconds then let it out for about 7 seconds.  Do this a few times and you should notice that your heart rate has gone down.

Another thing is to tap gently on the just below the knobs of your collar bone, with about 4 fingers.  As you do this just be aware that you are breathing and you can say to yourself, 'let it go'; 'I'm ok'; 'just let it go'.  That also works wonders.

Hang in there and try and not torment yourself with thoughts that scare you.  If you find yourself going down that road try and think of something that makes you feel good.

Thanks for the advice, I've had anxiety for years but only recently the attacks so I'll be sure to give it a try

Hard though because when it happens I get so worked up it's hard to think of anything sad

Yeah.  I understand but just tell yourself that you can do it and carry on telling yourself that.  I understand fully where you are coming from and before I did these things I felt absolutely powerless.

breathe in slowly hold and breath out again repeat this and the anxiety lessens.

Richard

Thanks sue I'll make sure I do what you said next time x take care

25th Hello Jake I understand what you are going through and have had exactly the same in the past, i found counselling helped to ge to the route of my anziety, there is always a reason, also there are many things you can do when you feel one coming on no matter where you are, even standing in  line at the bank eg start breathing in deply 8 rtimes then through your mouth breath out slowly letting the anxiety out, it is amazing how this heklps immediately, do this as often as you feel the need, but counselling and speak to you GP about it will help, plus there are many charity organisations who you can call 24/7 eg, Breathing space and the crisis centre are but two who have helped me in the past year

there is an abundance of help out there, but first discuss it with your GP, when making your appointment make it a double session so you have time to talk, i do this even today. I hope this and in fact know it will help.  callum ps keep in touch Jake

The reason for it yesterday was because I got my flight details through and realised I'm going to have fly to all the way back making me 3 stops and having to find my flight all alone...

I struggle to even go the shops so I don't know how I'm going to deal with that, really trying to not think about it at the minute as it's making me bad.
