Sudden deafness in right ear really really loud high pitched ringing then fades out???

Hi everyone,

I have been having this weird thing happen this evening. 

So I would randomly get this deafness in right ear accompanied by a really really loud ringing which fades out after 3-4 seconds... does anyone else get this? Could it be my anxiety? I do have tinnitus but the ringing literally goes after a couple of seconds and my hearing comes straight back? 

I’m due to have an MRI on the 22nd February arranged my my ENT doctor regarding my tinnitus...

Any advise would be appreciated

Hello,

​How long does the deafness last?  I get that where it feels like I lose hearing for a second and then the ringing comes on really loud and also starts to fade out.  

Have you heard from anyone else about this?

I have so many symptoms from anxiety and I'm going thru it right now real bad and I'm sorry to say but I have not had no ear ringing symptoms I'm not saying it can't be your anxiety but I'm just trying to give my feed I'm sorry I hope whatever it is it goes away it's so sad to read that so many of us are struggling or feeling something stay strong Lauren and know your not alone

Hello, 

It literally lasts around 5 seconds maximum it’s only in my right ear I have experienced this. 

I haven’t spoke to anyone else regarding this I don’t know whether to ring my consultant?

Thank you for your feedback. My doctor said tinnitus can be caused by anxiety which I have anyway but this ringing and deafness is just weird, it only lasts a couple of seconds then goes. 

I am sorry to hear that you are struggling at the moment, just remember you are also not alone. Anxiety/panic attacks are very daunting but stay positive and remind yourself anxiety is just a feeling and it will eventually pass.

Hi Lauren,

I would contact an ENT and tell them what’s happening and see if you can get in to be checked. Just to be safe.
