Experiencing at times a sharp stinging that goes from the inside of the eye, it stings incredibly much, and causes watery eyes. It only lasts a few seconds, and doesn't seem to only happen in the same eye.
What could it be? I don't think it is dry eye because I suppose that if it were dry eye, it wouldn't last just a few seconds. There doesn't seem to be any foreign body either.
Have you tried an ocular lubricant, such as artificial tears? And if that doesn't help, you ought to go to your GP or perhaps a local Optometrist [High Street Optician]
Yes it could still be dry eyes causing this problem. You may have concretions which are causing the stinging sensations. I would advise that you go to the emergency department of an EYE hospital if at all possible . A specialist can remove the concretions under the slit lamp . This brings immediate relief but may have to be repeated depending on how many concretions are present. It is important that the dr inverts the upper eye lid to examine underneath it for any concretions that may be present in the underneath side of the upper eye lid. Hope that makes sense. If you google concretions in eyes then u will get more details . I had them about three years ago together with dry eyes. It was the worst time of my life health wise. Another thing to consider is Sjogrens syndrome and the thyroid eye.
