can some please help if they have any idea why a 11 year old bright and happy and normal girl would suddenly just mentally shut and stop eating,drinking,speaking or opening their eyes for 4 days.as my niece is in hospital and we have no answers..please please any ideas would be very greatfully recived .thanks

I'm really sorry to read about your niece. If it is nothing physical then my gut reaction is to suggest that your niece has either witnessed or experienced some form of trauma. Not eating and drinking could be a shock response while shutting eyes and not speaking could be trying to avoid having to re-live the trauma by talking about it. Shutting eyes is a way of escaping the World and closing it out, for example if we think it is unsafe. I am not a medical professional but have suffered a trauma in the past. I would suggest seeking out aprofessional mental health expert for your niece and not forcing any communication but try to make her feel safe and secure.

Hi has a psych team at the hospital been to see her ?
not yet been waiting since thursday..hope they get to see her today but may not be until tomorrow,
Demand to see one now ...they can call one out ...please dont wait and be fobed off she needs help now not when it suits the doctors .
