Sudden Spike

Hello :) Hope everyone is doing well and keeping safe! I dont really know where to start but all of a sudden my anxiety is through the roof! I cricked my neck nearly two weeks ago and suffered from headaches etc for a week and now a dull ache in my neck and temple and im sure it's cancer or something, ive tried all my CBT Therapy and none of it is helping and now all of sudden i feel like i have no where to turn ? No one to really understand what im going through, i feel second best to everyone and no one seem to has the time just for a chat ? I know other people are suffering at the present time due to the epidemic and i hope you are feeling ok! But what would your own advice be to anyone at this present time ? the feeling of no where to turn etc, i havent really struggled with this before but all of a sudden it has hit me like a brick and i dont know what to do. Thank you :)

sorry you’re feeling this way Michael. When you get a crick in your neck it’s logical that you would have headaches after that and even the dull ache in your neck and temple. That does not sound anything like cancer or something serious. Remember people who have anxiety tend to think negative and worst case scenario‘s.
there are millions of people in the world who are going through the same thing so you definitely are not the only one! We do understand.
one thing that took me a long time to learn is that no other person can make you feel good about yourself . maybe for a few minutes here or there but true lasting happiness and a peaceful mind comes from liking and loving yourself. nobody could do that for me. I had to figure it out for myself.
do you have any family or friends you could talk to about how you feel? .
counseling helped me.
there are some great talks on YouTube for helping people with anxiety. I found them to be very helpful. There’s even some great meditations to calm you down. They have them for anxiety, depression, overthinking, sleep, etc.
just remember, your fears, negative thoughts, anxiety are not really who you are. Negative and fearful thoughts are not a part of you even though they begin with you. You can let them go and take control.
You don’t have to live with this anxiety.
do things that relax your mind or make you smile and laugh. The minute you get a negative thought, do something else right away. Listen to relaxing music, watch a funny movie, take a walk in nature.
learn to love you! Don’t ever quit because if you quit you go backwards and that’s not good.
learn to be content alone with yourself. it’s a great feeling!
and if you need further support, consider counseling just to vent to someone else who may be able to give you suggestions. There are also many books on how to fight the anxiety and find peace in your life.. You could probably find them online. Take care of yourself everything will be OK .

Your advice is solid and nothing short from the truth. Took me months to figure that out. Although i am not 100%, I no longer consider it a battle with the unknown. I am learning to accept it and not react to negative thoughts or fear. Reading your advice to others is refreshing.

Thank you so much, this has reassured me so much and i was able to put my thoughts back to rational levels today after reading this, You have helped me so much! Thank you!!!

You can always turn to this forum, we are here for you. Anytime you need to talk someone is always here and will answer you. Very sorry about your crick in your neck. It will work itself out in time. We all suffer anxiety when we are hurt. We are a special group of people that are very aware of what our bodies are doing and any little thing can set off our anxiety. You are not alone. Are you currently taking any medication to control your anxiety? I know how you are feeling and you will get better with time. Yes everyone is suffering from the pandemic but we anxiety sufferers have it a little rougher than the rest. We tend to get a little more worked up in these times of crisis. Dont ever be ashamed of your anxiety. You did not ask for it, and you cant wave a magic wand and make it go away. Most people dont understand people like us and think we are over exagerating our symptoms to get attention, and thats not the case. You just have to learned to ignore those people and feel sorry for them for being ignorant. Its not our fault, and we certainly dont want to feel this way. I hope that helps, and i hope you feel better. Stay in touch

Thank you, that is so reassuring… i find it very hard to talk about it as i guess it’s still so new to me and i have been able to control it,

I didnt want to go down the medication route as i find it hard to take hay fever tablets! (I Know right lol)

But i just wanted to cope without the med’s…

Thank you again
