My psychiatrist put me on olanzapine again recently. I was seriously manic, and I had him worried. The interesting thing is that now eating anything with a lot of sugar makes me irritable. Do you guys think that this is a product of taking the olanzapine, or do you think that I am noticing it more, because for the first time in 25 years, I'm neither manic nor depressed and have more room in my head to think? Also, does anyone else notice that they get irritable with a higher sugar intake? Thanks!
Bipolar and medication aside, too much sugar will imbalance anyone's blood sugar levels, irritability is a very common side effect of that
I was like that with mirtazapine. . Do u no if your med is a hestime blocker ?
Didn't explanation that properly ..sorry.. your side effects sound the same ..that's why I ask .
It's a antipsychotic. It doesn't, as far as I know, have a histamine affect.
I never got irritable before. It seems to just be happening in the last week or so. Very weird.
sugar is a common culprit in irritability but withdrawing from it can make you feel worse in the short term and better in the long term It's like anything though you need some every now and then. I recently cut a lot of sugar out and i felt dreadful for about 2 months. It doesn't matter what I do i still feel like crap unless I am bouncing off the walls and going out drinking all the time.
