Sugar, diet and does it affect VA symptoms?

Hi ladies! Well Christmas is over and I ate alot of starch, sweets, cheese, acidic food and yes a few drinks. Today I had quite a bit of sugar, quite a bit of vulva burning tonight and am feeling a slight urethal irritation. Question,do you notice a change in your symptoms , do they seem to get worse after consumeing specific food or drink or sugar.

Nope.  No changes here.  I don't normally drink alcohol but have done over the past week every day, and don't normally eat much in the way of sugar, but have done every day and don't normally eat much in the way of fatty foods, but have done every day, and no changes at all for me.  I thought I'd have gained 4 - 5 lb but only gained 2 so VERY happy.  With the use of the exercise bike and treadmill that will be gone in a couple of weeks:-)  I think it's  because I've only missed one day of any exercise it's limited the weight gain hugely.  Just MAYBE, the exercise is offsetting the effects of alcohol and sugar etc.  Only a thought though - don't know!  Hope you had a good time though, anyway!

Lee yes sugars affects me down below a lot ,so I avoid it,it will also give my anxiety a nudge upwards to ,I suffer to from PNE which is another problem daily .What I do is drink lot of water daily to keep everything flushed through. Until my water becomes clear .Foods don't think affect me. Not noticed Lee,but then sugArs in everything we eat

Sugar n yeasty foods for me lee

Treadmill maybe,but that bike seat,no way,lol.

What is PNE please?

Pudental Neuralgia Syndrome ,same as Sciatica Piniformis and Coccyodynia ,mine began 9 yrs ago after a big weight loss from illness. Lost the muscle in backside ,never got muscle back ,truly a painful condition Lee .Ihave to use heating pad  plus a special Cushion to sit on .Agony daily .Plus the AV .

Had to put my static bike away when I got AV and PNE ,no way I could sit on saddle. Even after husband padded seat out .I suffer from Mdds i past 4 yrs ( Mal de Debarquement Syndrome ) .So the static bike would have been a help .Cant win .

Oh gosh,I am so sorry you are going through so much. Yes,I have heard of that. I also have read some believe the main nerve down there could caus nerve symptoms in the vulva vulvadynia etc. I have a bad back, disc in lower spine is messed up,plus a few other discs, was thinking of exploreing that theory for some of my irritation also.

It's amazing what can set these symptoms going  mine began with a head virus 10 yrs ago ,and all this has lead on from there and over 4 stone weight loss in 4 months ,perfectly good health prior Lee A1 .some to go on to get Bartolin gland troubles( swellings ) I've had that 2 times in 6 yrs ,out of thin air .so everything has knock on health affects in one way or another ,if unlucky Yes all you put up is correct .Im on a lovely site now with females in same condition as myself  it was a lady who made me my cushion on that site .Cyclist syndrome another Lee .Go look that up .Its not wildly known by many drs this  obvious they missed that lesson in med school .Dr Scurra in the Mail was on to it with a lady whose had this condition for 15 yrs and no name for it from her drs ,but he knew straight away what she was describing PNE .Like this Dr said we have nerve ends from head to toes .I never had AV until this backside pain began ,both began same time .Coincidence ??

Well,i think the amount of irritation could probably be related.

Hi Lee, Its a co-incidence you mention this as I hardly had an sweet stuff over Xmas, hardly any chocolate, cake or anything as I was at in laws in Scotland and they don't eat that sort of stuff. I can honestly say that Wednesday through to Saturday my V A wasn't too bad. Then I was quite sore over night in bed. Got up Sunday and we drove home to Merseyside. Since we got home on Sunday at 4pm I've eaten a lot more sweet and sugary stuff and now this afternoon, Tuesday, I am sat here in this chair, feeling quite upset as I am badly sore again. :-(

I did buy a soft gel seat for it:-))))  My husband uses the cross trainer, which I'd love to do, but can't because of knees:-(  But he's gone from diabetic (sugar level of 60) to non diabetic (now 40) in 6 months purely from the exercise.

Well I guess sugar is inflammatory, so i am cutting it out awhile and see what happens.

I wasn't aware of that Lee! That's interesting. Trouble is I'm "Addicted" to sugary stuff

Kind of funny, when we go on trips mine seems better also,I dont eat sugar on trips, also I think the deversion of the trip helps.

If you do some research on sugar and yeast you'll see that there is definitley a connection. You can be affected by overgrowth of yeast in your body without testing positive for it. Do a bit of research and you will be amazed by what it can cause. I have been trying to lay off sugar for years as I know all these people can't be wrong about how bad it is for you. Now that they say dark chocolate actually has good stuff in it I am thrilled as I love the stuff and can't stand milk chocolate any more. Your tastes really do change, but you have to make the fist steps. Doesn't have to be cold turkey.

The same with exerecise. It's been proven time & again how much we need it. We just have to decide how important it is to us to be healthy and alter our lifestyles a bit. takes some time & commintment, but we're all pretty old and at least aren't stuck having to work most of our days. Time for some New Year's resolutions!

Yes,seems i can do a treadmill,im thinking walking briskly would caus more irritation. Also I ate bad for 2 weeks, used the holiday for an excuse. Back to eating well.

I like that Beverly.  We have to take responsibility for ourselves and do what we can, don't we:-)  That's not to say ladies on here aren't doing that - I know so many are searching for the best answer to their problems!

I've eaten badly for a couple of weeks too Lee.  But have to admit, I did enjoy it, and I'd hate to think I'd got to eat healthily with no treats for the rest of my life.  I'm quite happy to eat really healthily for most of the time but that piece of cake or something once a week makes it all worth it:-)))  But like you, I've got to get back to eating well now:-)  Or perhaps that should be :-( LOL!
