hiya love i think most of us on here are on prescription and i think if you tell the doctor how low you are feeling that he/she will understand and hopefully let you try these tablets. i have been on these tablets for 4 weeks on wednesday and have found that they do help i have only lost 7 lbs but its a start. to be honest get yourself to the docs and let us all know how you are doing, dont be afraid just tell them there are alot of overweight people out there that need help and some bigger than u and i. let me know how you get on please. pam xx

Hello,

Thank you for replying. I have just got back from the doctors and after becoming upset due to my weight problem and unhealthy relationship with food I came away with a depression questionnaire and a blood test pack to have various tests done. The Dr wants to see me again next Thursday when the bloods will be back.

I want help with weight its that that is making me feel depressed and low.

I will see what she says next week.

Ruth

Hi Ruth,

I am 41 and 5ft4 and weighed 16st3 last week at my doctors surgery. She too saw how upset I had become about the weight that wasn't shifting even though I was 10weeks into a 12wk fitness programme and was trying to be very careful about what I ate.

This has been an ongoing battle for me for the past 4yrs (gave up smoking 6yrs ago nearly and gained the extra weight) and I was about as low as I could be when I saw her last week.

She prescribed Orlistat after checking my bp(higher than normal) and I have to see her again after 3wks then every month.

So far, its going really well. I watch my fat intake and I have reduced my calorie intake too, I go to the gym 2-3times a week for an hour. Its working. Its been a long time coming, but I am determined to loose this fat.

I don't see the tablets as a miracle cure and would rather not be on them too long, but hopefully this will give me the boost that I need.

I hope you get things sorted out Ruth. Try keeping a fod diary and showing it to your doctor. It helps to proove that you are really trying. If you don't excercise, try some. It doesn't have to be a gym, it can be a walk around the local park, rollerskating, swimming? Anything to get your heart rate up a little and start burning some calories.

Good Luck and keep in touch.

Mandy
