Hi all, last week i was given orlistat by my doctor, i didnt actually go to him for it , he just gave it to me, here is my story.
I am a 40 yr old single mum,Im 12st and 5'3\" tall with a BMI of 29, i have had 3 ceasarians, a hysterectomy, and a major pelvic opperation, so i have been cut across my middle 5 times.Last month i went to london and had a consultation to have a tummy tuck/ bodylift, which was approved and pencilled in for oct.
I went to my doctor concerning my hips hurting, and usually i see another doctor, but this time i saw a doctor i hadn't seen for a year, he noticed i had put on a lot of weight around my middle, and weighed me only to find i hadn't put any weight on, but he was worried about the excess weight centered on my middle as it can lead to diabetes and heart attacks.
He also said i was right to have tummy tuck/lift, but as i was going to need a double hip replacement so i was going to be cut across again!! this would result in all the good work of the lift and tt being ruined and i could return to how i am now.
So at his suggestion he put me on orlistat to lose some weight before my hip opperation (which isn't booked yet) told me to put off tummy tuck, and try to lose 1 1/2 st. But that was that, he didnt give me any more info , no leaflets, no do's and donts etc.Just told me i would be weighed monthly, and no weight loss no more tabs!!
He gave me a months worth of orlistat, so i came home clutching my bag, and went online to find out more.......omg!!! horror stories galore, orange oil, green oil, accidents at work, at home outside!!! .
I was petrified of taking one.But i did and all has been well except after sunday lunch even tho it was skinless chicken, i had the usual 4 roast pots and gravy, and in the morning a small amount of oil was seen.
Im going to keep watching these posts as they are a great help and you all give great advice, i will pop in from time to time and give my menus and weight loss. good luck to you all
