Suppression Therapy Results for BV?

So I have had BV for almost a year now (it will be a year start of September). For the longest time I thought I had caught something but I have always tested positive for BV and negative for STD's. I have been through 4 rounds of the gel and before that one round of the pill. I believe i got it from too many rounds of antibiotics for a UTI last summer. My doctor has put me on what she called suppression therapy. This is where I use the gel at bed time for two times a week for 3 months. She claims this will attack and rid the bio-dome of the bacteria. I have no idea what strains I have, my doctor does everything she can to avoid answering my questions and to make my appointment as quick as possible. She tested and said I do have BV blue cells. Has anyone done suppression therapy before??

I get so depressed hearing about women who have had this for years. I've tried every natural remedy mentioned on here to no avail (I mean literally everything). I have an appointment with a very expensive holistic doctor that specializes in women's health in September, but until then, I guess this is what I have to do.

Also I would love input on if I should avoid sex for now? I'm sure it's probably a yes but just want input. Condoms and no condoms seem to aggravate it a lot...

Thank you ladies in advance! I hope we find a cure some day!

I think you should definitely avoid sex as much as you can. I've not had sex for 9 months (as long as this has been going on) and I think it helps. But I have to ask does sex hurt for you? I had a point where I was having nothing but pain down there and it even hurt to insert a tampon. I really want to have sex since it's been 9 months obviously but I'm so worried how it will feel... including all the discharge and odor

Hello, I’vr been dealing with this for about 5-6 years now and honestly it wasn’t until recently that I fully understood what bv is. I was only 20 at the time and I thought “oh an infection, okay give me meds” but I now realize it’s more serious than a simple infection. I think it wasn’t until recently that it’s gotten worse because I’ve been to the doctor at least 8 times already since October. It’s f*****g ridiculous and depressing. I recently heard about supression therapy but I would like to hear from the ladies who’ve had this procedure. I’ve taken pills and gel and honestly I refuse to take Metrodinazole anymore because I feel like it only makes it worst because it Also kills good bacteria. I’m going again to the gyno this week because I feel like I have it again. So pretty much for me I feel like it never fully goes away even though I do my best for it to go away. I take daily supplements but even that hasn’t made any change.

I never had bv for a long time but it always Seens to come back every year it’s like it’s never really gone

I didn't have pain with insertion, but I did feel that the skin down there is easily irritated even by something as little as a pad being up against me all day.

I'm hesitant to use it again as well but at this point when everything else has failed, I'll do whatever I have to....I will let you know any updates!!

I had bv for a 1 1/2 years. It was hard work but i read as much as i could on how to fix it.

1 no alcohol

2 no sex

3 pro biotic ( pharmaceutical )

3 multi vitamin

4 fish oil

5 lots of water

6 cotton underwear

7 no suger

8 clindamycin pills they have the best rate of success.

Work for me..good luck

O ya ..one more thing...throw all your underwear out once you start taking the antibiotic clindamycin. It's expensive but it's well worth it in the end .

Why should I throw it out? Where do I get it? My doc will only give me metro gel. What kind of probiotics do you use?
