has anyone had any experience with a suprascapular nerve block for shoulder pain? I had one done a couple of days ago and it hasn't done a thing.
I had a block done for my shoulder surgery and it’s just an expensive joke. I wasn’t told anything about getting it until the doctor came in and put me under to do it. I would have refused it if I was told about it. It only lasts about 12 hours and guess what, so does the numbing agent the doctor uses. I believe it has caused me more damage than good. My son had shoulder surgery two months after mine and I had him refuse the block and even though the doctor didn’t seem thrilled my son recovered very easily from his operation. Just another way for the doctors and hospitals to make money. If it lasted for weeks when you’re recovering maybe but 12 to 24 hours doesn’t make it worth the money that’s why there are pain meds prescribed after surgery. I only needed Ibuprophen 800 and I had Rotator Cuff repair, reattached bicep, scraping the ball joint and scraping the collar bone. I couldn’t tolerate the oxy products so cold packs and and willing to suck up a little discomfort and I’m doing fine. Wishing you the best in recovery.
