Surgery Hooray!

I'm a bit of a donut ...... I saw the consultant yesterday and an appointment was made to have my gallbladder removed next week, I became really emotional as I thought I would have to convince him to do it!!! I forgot to ask any questions, I assume its been done laproscopically but I don't actually know!! I have a pre op appointment tomorrow so I'm sure I'll find out then. I am actually very excited and happy, I'm in daily pain which has limited my life and it is soon to be over!! I'm not even worried about how they do the surgery, I just need the gallbladder out ... it's happening a lot quicker than I thought. It is packed with stones, calcified and shrivled, can't wait to have it out!!! I think I may be a little odd being so happy about this!!!!!!

Hi

I cried with joy when I woke up from the anaesthetic.. such a relief to have it removed and I have to say 3 years on .. best thing ever .. my quality of life just improved within days of removal .. so totally understand .. I was just nervous of the operation but once that was done yippee 👏

Hi, yes thats the reaction I had when the surgeon said he'd take mine out and yes it will be laparscopically otherwise he would've mentioned it. I felt nervous about the surgery but I knew that I needed it and the surgery itself was easy as you're fast asleep!!

Once you've had a pre op they generally fairly quickly afterwards. I only had to wait about 10 days after surgery so I expect you'll get a date for surgery soon.

Keep in touch and take care.

So good to hear. I cannot wait to have mine out. Was told six to nine months to wait. Been bloated since Tuesday after dinner, and my gallbladder feels like someone has kicked it. It feels bruised.

Hi I'm in tomorrow for surgery nervous but scared but that's human nature but read a lot about weight gain so I'm hoping I don't just had a toasted teacake and my stomach really sore and bloated so in a way glad it's coming out🤒😷

Hi, I cried, too.  I'd fought to have my gallbladder removed for a good while! Remember to give yourself sufficient time to heal.  It is major surgery!

Best of luck to you, and let us know how you get on!

Thanks 🤗

Hi Carol,

I was a bit scared, but I was so glad to have it out!  Remember that the staff will do everything they can to make sure you have a successful surgery.  If you're nervous, just let them know, and they'll do whatever they can to alleviate your fears.

Then, remember that after surgery you need to give yourself time to heal.  It's best to eat small, simple, low fat meals frequently to give your body time to adjust to not having a gallbladder.  You could look at following the BRAT diet, bananas, rice, applesauce and toast or look on line at the FODMAP diet as well.

Best of luck to you!  Let me know how you get on! xx

Good luck for your surgery tomorrow. Really hope it goes well and that your recovery is good. Hope it clears all those awful symptoms. My tummy got bloated after dinner on Tuesday and it hasn't gone down, and my gallbladder is really sore, like it feels bruised or something. Let us know how you get on, and take care of yourself.

Thank you all!!!!! Tomorrows the day yipee!!

How did your surgery go? Hope you're okay.

Good luck for tomorrow. Hope all goes well.

Thank you!!

Good luck for tomorrow. Take care x

Good luck for tomorrow.

Let us know how you get on.

Best of luck for your surgery. Don't stress, you'll be fine. Let us know how you get on afterwards. The first few days are the worst...shoulder pain from the gas, woozy from all the meds etc. It gets better every couple of hours.

I also remember the joy of being given a date to have mine out. I previously had a date set with one surgeon who then cancelled on me due to emergency bump. I then went thru another surgeon who was very empathetic of my situation. Luckily he wasn't busy at all and was very respected at his local hospital so managed to get me an appointment less than 3 days away.

Been a bloody nightmare still in hospital got infection can't find what's up ended up been in resuscitation room allergic to antibiotics arghhh

Sorry to hear this. Are you feeling any better now.

Hopefully you'll start to feel better soon.

Thsnks😢
