So I have already asked a question earlier but now i have another question but about surgery scar. Mine is still dark and a small part of it sort of formed into a keloid. How Can I get rid of it? Or what Can I put on that will help fade the scar away?
I’m a little insecure about the scar and also the swelling
Hi Sarah,
Never be insecure about any scar. Think of it as a battle well fought! I say that because I have had 18 surgeries to date, the last one being the removal of two screws in my ankle after an ORIG broken fibula, dislocated ankle and torn ligaments.
I too have had keloid scarring and I used vitamin E on it (many years ago), but I am sure someone on here will know of something more up to date and more efficient.
Your scars will continue to heal and fade with time.
Best of luck to you in your recovery
Deb
I have used Bio Oil on my scars, I have six around my ankle from various surgeries. They will fade with time. Vitamin e is also good.
Bio oil or vitamin E will help a little but after that just rock those scars! 😍
thank you.
My ankle is 2 months post op. I also have a keloid scar on my inside ankle, the outside ankle scar is 4 inches long and still has stitches which should have disintegrated by now. the scar will disappear in time.
Sarah,
Now is the time to work on reducing your scar tissue while it is still in early stage and will remodel (reduce hopefully) well. Later, as scars harden and become more fixed they are not susceptible to reduction nearly as well.
The Tennant Biomodulator has been reputed to be effective in scar reduction. I use a similar device of another brand. It supposedly will also work on healing those scars deep inside (of course you can't see them) where surgeon's knife went slicing.
Vitamin E (tocopherol) is still tried and tested effective for scars and burns. They make a multitude of topical ointments containing tocopherol and other ingredients (including homeopathic preparations) designed to treat skin problems. Taken internally, E will also go to scar sites and help dissolve them.
Scar massage using ointments or lotion can keep scar tissue mobile and loose, hopefully speeding healing time and a producing a less noticeable and 'restrictive' scar result.
Systemic enzyme food supplements are reputed to work on reducing scars by getting in bloodstream and traveling to scar sites. There proteolytic enzymes dissolve scar tissue from inside out. I have used enzymes after my ankle injury and I believe they helped heal ligament and tendon damage and put me ahead of the curve on recovery.
You might want to look into red light, infrared, and low level laser therapy as well.
