Has anyone had any of the surgeries to correct balance and dizziness? If so I would like to know the outcome and how you feel now?
HI. I had the sac decompression surgery last May. I had vertigo for about a month afterwards. I also had a pretty rough time with gait and balance issues. The balance issues required quite a bit of vestibular therapy to get relief. I’m happy to say I’m doing much better and gaining greater independence. Resumed driving, short distances. Remember, everyone is different. Others have had little or no issues post surgery.
I have had 3 ear perfusion where the injection medication in the ear a 3 day procedure an I just had one on April of 2018 an I have losted a lot hearing in my right ear it helped a lot with the drop attacks I was having but the tinnitus is worse I still can get a to fast an I get dizzy I take about 15 pills a day double steroids for the pressure an fullness my balance is not good hope you get to feeling better I dont
BTW, I exhausted numerous nonsurgical treatment options before finally resorting to surgery. It was my last resort.

I have had all injections, sac decompression, and meds. Some worked for a short period (most of 2 months) and then I was right back where I started. I became so debilitated from the spinning I was left no choice but to have labyrinthectomy done. BEST DECISION I made throughout entire process. Yes, recovery took about 3 months but I am back going 100% haven’t had an attack since day of surgery on 6-8-2018. Yes I am deaf on the left side however does not really effect me. I have the phonak hearing aids but personally I am good without them. I do work in an operating room and sometimes with all the people talking and equipment I don’t hear that well but over all I am good. So glad to have control of my life again. As a reminder this disease is different with everybody as how they respond to treatments. Unfortunately for me none worked, and I chose the last resort to stop this horrible disease. Hi Rubye: I think we may have communicated with each other before. I had the sac decompression surgery 4 months ago thinking it would bring an end to the vertigo, but alas it did not work. I have been advised to go for vestibular therapy next and would like to know what it consists of. I’ve not made an appointment yet. Thank you for hearing me out. Ben
Hello Wendy, I, too, had the labrynthectomy 4 months ago and was elated that it put the vertigo to an end, except it didn’t. I had a few small episodes which began last week, and a big one this afternoon. Did you have to have vestibular therapy following your surgery, and did it help with your recovery? My doctor says I need to commence with the therapy. It would be nice to hear from you. Thanks, Ben

As you may remember, I was have a very difficult time recovering from the sac compression surgery that was done in May 2018. After several vestibular therapy sessions, I began to gain some confidence. I had later reported that I was doing better and no vertigo. For two weeks now, I have been some of the worse attacks ever. eith increased tinnitus. I am still not feeling well. My neurologist said it’s the menieres i still. I am so disappointed. This is not a good sign, as you know. I thought after all of this I just might get a break for just a little while. I will be seeing my ENT MENIERES specialist who performs the sac decompress.
Has your labrynthectomy improved? I remember that you were having some difficulties afterwards. …

YES i did the vestibular rehab. I started about 2 weeks after surgery. It was ruff first starting but it got better and better. Sometimes when new exercises would be introduced it would take me a couple of weeks to master. I went back to work full time that Sept. I can tell you in my opinion had I not done therapy I probably wouldn’t have done as well. Curious if you have bilateral ? Happy to answer any questions any time!
There were no episodes of vertigo for nearly 4 months, then a couple of weeks ago the dizziness began and having a major episode of vertigo yesterday. Am waiting for the vestibular rehab therapy clinic to call to set up an appointment to begin therapy. And I thought the labrynthectomy would be the end of my meniere’s disease problem. I hope you’re doing better.

BTW, vestibular therapy does help. For some, it corrects the issues completely. It depends on the condition and amount of damage. For me, it provided temporary relief which was much welcomed. But for my condition, there has been minimal permanent corrections. I was told that I will always have repeat this vestibular therapy with this condition. They can be done at home with assistance after you have gone though a few sessions over time. Have not found that comfortable yet.
Don’t have a VRT therapy appt until 3/14 but doing Cawthorne-Cooksey exercises which I found on YouTube. Really disappointed because vertigo has returned, usually every other day. Did you experience full aura and dizziness experiences after your surgery?
