When did everyone stop wearing the surgical stockings? I'm 4 weeks post op now and can't bear them.
Hi
I had a Right TKR I stopped wearing the stocking after 4 days, for the same reason as you are having.
Good healing
I don’t remember anyone telling me it was a rule to wear them.
I've been told 6 weeks from the hospital but googled it and it said when you're mobile which I am
Hi Louise ,my surgical stockings came off on day 3, when I asked the nurse if they should be kept on any longer, she said there was no need , because I was going to have to keep taking the tablets that thinned the blood to prevent blood clots!
That's what I couldn't understand, I was given the injections in hospital for the first two days then tablets for ten days I think. So, you think I'll be fine now?
3 Days then only the large surgical plaster over the incision until the staples were taken out
I don't think you have to worry about anything !
I wore mine 2 1/2 months. I had a terrible time with swelling. I just hated the top part. After they stretched out it wasn't so bad
Yippee, just what I wanted to hear. Thank you
I should've done that. I got my staples out and walked out the nurses room without my stick. She had to shout me back to collect it lol
Ye they're not too bad once stretched but when washed they're as tight as ever. And far too hot in bed. That's it, mine are now in the bin 😀👌
That was the same for me!
Good for you, that's one step forward to recovery, and there is certainly a long way to go!
I was told to stop wearing them when I stop giving myself anti coagulant injections in 3 1/2 weeks from now. I feel safer wearing them but maybe that's just me.
Sorrry, I am not much good as I didn’t have any stockings and have done great. As of today it’s been 9 weeks since surgery.
Best wishes!
Thanks anyway. What about knee bends? When I lie on the bed I'm getting it in line with half way up the other thigh, if you know what I mean. I don't have a clue how many degrees that is though
I found that if you do heel slides on the bed,and slide your leg up to your maximum bend, it still doesn't bend as far as if you were doing the same exercise on a dining room chair! If you sit on a chair in a normal position , you ought to be about 90% more or less depending on your pain threshold , just don't over do it, plenty of ice, and keep up with pain relief
Ye, I've noticed that too. It's just the way I was shown in hospital
6 weeks.
