Suspected skin reaction to Lansoprazole. Ongoing weeks after stopping the drug. Advice needed.

Hi all In the second week of Lansoprazole (for acid reflux) I had a suspected skin reaction. I developed an itch on one forearm and when I casually scratched it, my whole arm lit up with an agonising burning. Yet there was nothing to see! I stopped the drug and saw the GP of course and was prescribed 10 mg Amitriptyline for nerve pain. Whether due to that or not, the burning has stopped - but now I have itchy soreness on both arms, midriff and back. If I give in to the urge to scratch (I know I shouldn't but sometimes I fail) it sets that whole area off. It's so intense I could easily tear my skin to shreds trying to satisfy the terrible (also painful) itch. It's worse in the evening and in bed. I'm worried that I'm still getting a reaction weeks after stopping the drug. How long do these things stay in the system? But also it doesn't fit the bill of classic skin reactions - no rash, bumps, or redness even. I've tried 2 anti histamines, E45 anti itch cream and a steroid cream without success. Are there any tests that can be done to find out what is going on? Also - what might help? I'm only asking because the GP seems out of answers. I'll be seeing him later this week and was wondering about a steroid shot or Capsaicin cream or something with a numbing agent. Thanks
