svt attacks?

I had a panic attack when I was about 12 (i forgot how to breath up for a minute) nothing else diognosed. Now im 22 I had a car accident a month later had a panic attack shortness of breath nothing diognosed. The two months later I woke up with palpatations and like a bruised pain in the chest I went to work just hoping they would go but very time I walked up stirs or leaned forward my palpatations would beat so strong through my neck and chest. This lasted all day. I got home called the doctor which sent me to a and e. The nurses caught my heart at 188per minute I was even palpatating then. I was put on an ecg machine my heart rate eventually lowered as I was lay in bed for 3 days. But every time I move my heart races. Is this normal? I've had echo and ex ray and diognosed with svt. But how can I work when I get breathless just by standing up? I'm also on beta blockers. And waiting to see a specialist.

Hello,

I feel your anguish. No one took me seriously when I started having SVT attacks they pretty much laughed me out of the doctors room. I had panic attacks as a child and refused to examine me they told me I was just anxious. I knew this was not the case. Anxiety comes on differently where as SVT is like a switch, all of a sudden your heart is racing.

I too get palpatations from stairs and bending over and leaning and it is hard. I am only 20 years old. My cardiogist recomended sharp takes of breath to try and stop my heart from racing, aswell as splashing cold water on the face and not getting up too suddenly. It is hard but keep up with the medication and keep pushing them for different drugs till you find one that works for you. Once they run more tests they may offer you an ablation. You should take it, im fighting for one myself. Your not living your life to the full neither am I. An ablation gives the chance for a new lease of life, and risks really are minimal. Hang in there!

Thankyou, this helps reassure, I have read alot about other people on here and there's seem to come on when lying down however mine is the opposite like you say when bending or leaning, so this has helped thanks

Happy to help! Just remember, its a pain but it is not dangerous. Being positive is half the battle, good luck smile
