My SVT episodes are happening a lot more frequently these days. Still on the waiting list for cardiology but for the last two nights i have had SVT episdoes whilst i was asleep. They werent bad ones, only lasting a minute at most but this has never happened to me before where it has woke me up from sleep. There were two of them that woke me up at 4am and then again at about 6.30am. The next night i had two more, one at 10pm and the next at about 11.30. Just wondered if this has happened to people before or if its a common thing as ive had SVT for about 8 or 9 years and have never had episodes whilst sleeping.
As I aged I developed SVT episodes durnig sleep also. This would normally happen for me when I drank coffee too late in the afternoon. I used to be ok on 1 coffee in the morning but I had to give it up totally eventually. It would also happen if I drank alcohol in any form. Both were significant triggers for me. I also noticed I got SVT episodes at night (which would wake me up) if I had a particularly stressful day.
Apart from your normal SVT counter measures e.g. coughing or valsalva I found eating 1/2 a banana did the trick for me at night.
Unfortunately you'll find you get more frequent episodes as you age. You have to eliminate all the triggers (trial and error) and increase the good stuff, like exercise and good diet, so that you can reduce your number of episodes. You only get one heart, the cellls are not replaced, so you need to take realy good care of it.
Hope this helps.
All the best,
Chris
Pretty normal I still have multiple episodes through out the day everyday you either are lucky you have never had at night or you have them and they have not woken you up.
