Swelling in the morning

Wonder if anyone else has had this experience, I am 5 weeks post oip and things are progressing well. However when I get up int he morning my foot is more swollen and tight feeling than at any other time which is surprising as I have obviously not been putting weight on it. It gets better after a while. Strange.....

Hi Joyce I think your foot is quite swollen in the morning as the fluid has had time in thr night to flood into the foot. Although your foot has been resting for hours over the night, it is the movement of walking around a bit that helps to disperse the fluid. I am 9 weeks posy op now & still experiencing this most days although it had improved. During the day now it is quite normal but by the evening the swelling is back. Sure it's all fine & that you will gradually notice this getting less of a problem.

Joyce, my foot is least swollen first thing in morning aftter sleeping elevated all night long. 4 weeks post opt. I learned everyone is different. Swelling and numbness is a big part of this journey. Lot's of frustration. My second time around the block. Hang in there.

Hi Joyce.  I'm also wondering if you perhaps need to still elevate at night. I'm now 3 months post op and recall needing to elevate quite a number of weeks to prevent the swelling....not as high as initially but at least on one pillow.
