Swimming after Stapedotomy

I had my stapedotomy done December 2017. I was cleared a few weeks back to go back to my running. I want to try out a new hobby e.g. ocean swimming. Can anyone tell me how soon after this op one can swim in the pool with getting the ear wet. Thank you.

Can't you use ear plugs for swimming, just to protect

I'm in the same boat. Had my Stapedectomy 16 days ago and I can't wait to get back to running. 2 more weeks. I would call/email your doctor for swimming in the ocean question though. Many Drs do the surgery differently and the healing process varies. For myself, I had the surgery under general, my hearing increased five fold when I awoke. The bandage (cotton in ear) came out the following day. Dr told me to tilt my head down on the op ear side when I take a shower the next day. Crusty blood was out of the ear completely within 5 days. I was told that complete healing takes 2-4 months. And if you are like me, the improvement in hearing has been significant/drastic and I don't want to have a neg. impact. that is within my control. I see the doctor in 2 weeks for testing and have high hopes. I know this didn't answer your question but I thought I would give you my two cents. TTFN

Put cotton wool balls into your ears when showering and ear plugs when swimming.

This will help prevent water getting into your ears.  I always do this with suffering

ETD when washing my hair and showering.
