Switching from Citalopram 20mg to Sertraline 150mg, any side effects?

Been on Citalopram for many years which have been okay up until recently, switching over to Sertraline. Has any-one had really unpleasant side effects?

I'm the same as you here been on Citalopram for years will little effect really. Finally went back to the docs recently and was switched to Sertraline. I am now on day 10, with little side effects at all. I started on 25mg for 4 days, up to 50mg for 4 days, today is the first day on 75mg, I'm going up to 100 in 3 days. I had a couple of days of slight nausea for a couple of hours, and today I feel really tired but apart from that it's been nothing but good. I know it's stil early but I am alreay feeling the effects, I am sleeping so much better. Best thing I did was coming off citalopram and going onto Sertraline.

hi I was on 200 Mg sertraline for 6 months then suddenly stopped, don't do that I had head zaps, feeling sick headaches for 3 weeks after I stopped. I thought I could cope with out them but 6 months down the line have realised I needed them.

so anyway I'm back on them now and I've started off slowly on 50 Mg a day for 2 weeks , then 100 Mg for 2 weeks then full 200 Mg per day after that.

It's going to be hard for you to get taking them. dirrorea. head aches, dry mouth, stomach ache , no sleep for the first few nights was all what I experienced and I'm experiencing now I'm getting back on them but I know how good the outcome is a after a couple of months!!! stick to them it will be worth it

Hi thank you for your comments I was given 150mg of Sertraline instead of the Citalopram, it was a straight swap over, I was reluctant to take the full doseage so started with the 100mg I'm into my 4th day & so good so far apart from a little nausea & a little bit of insomnia so fingers crossed all will be well then I can introduce the 50mg
