I've been taking Celexa 20mg for minor depression for about 2-3 months. Go to diaylsis 3 times a week and find I was having anxiety during last hour and half (I am on dialysis 4 hrs). Dr suggested I stop taking Celexa for 5 more days and then start with Sertraline 50mg one in morning. I'm confused - why take Celexa for 5 days and then start Sertraline. Why not just stop Celexa now and start new drug tomorrow?
Hi Michele, I am sorry you are on diaylsis. I don't know why the drs has advised you to take the meds in this way, but trust that there must be a reason. Usually you have to withdraw slowly because of side effects before starting another drug. If your still concerned have a word with your pharmacy they have lots of knowledge on drugs, or you could ring the GP and ask them to explain. Sorry i cannot be more helpful.
