For the last couple of weeks been finding it hard to walk now with a limp went to docs back of my knee swollen gave me gel to rub into it does anyone know whats causing it.

ou've got to have an ultrasound... no point in gessing. It may be, probably is inflammation of undetermined cause.
I would go back t the doctot yelling and screaming with pain ... exagerate if necessary to get proper care.
Meanwhile if you could get hold of Epsom Salts and have baths before going to bed then you could rub the fab gel rub your doctor gave you.
As much as you can try to go raw/paleo because it's anti-inflammatory too.
