Good day everyone. I had car accident last 23 January 2022. I have dislocated wrist and they had to put k wires and casted it. Last 09 March 2022, they removed the wires and the cast. Now I have swollen fingers and slight mobility in my wrist area.
Still no physiotherapy session.
I’m a Medical Technologist by profession and my company is telling me to go back to work on 01 April 2022.
How would I be able to do that???
Swollen fingers after removal of cast are normal. Take your time to adjust and start minor physiotherapy and massages to gain strength and eliminate the swellings.
hi everyone. i posted my own post but no one answered me and i hope someone can reply. i had a wrist fracture 8 weeks ago. it was a tiny fracture but they put in cast for 6 weeks. i had to have it changed twice cause of tightness. anyway cast removed 2 weeks ago and swelling in my hand is bad. it is not just when i dangle my arm or at the end of the day but all the time. i sleep in the position im supposed to but still vy morning its not down. physio says this is unusual. anyone else with this problem
Expect swelling/discomfort for up to one year after fracture, especially around the little finger side of the wrist. This is normal and does not mean there is anything to worry about. Your wrist and hand may also be very sensitive. Keep your wrist and hand moving to ease this and ask your physiotherapist for advice
good morning please excuse typos as only one functioning hand ! Radial fracture right wrist i just got my cast off yesterday , think my expectations were way off as regards functionality ! i can do less now compared to when my cast was on . reading all replies with great interest and thank you have given me hope.
Hi…I had my wrist cast removed a couple of weeks ago and am dealing with swollen fingers too. I know that you posted about this years ago and I am wondering how your recovery has been and if you can give me any tips on how to deal with this issue. I am in physical therapy, wearing a compression glove and elevating my hand when I can. It gets swollen when I try and do most activities (except exercise).
I know what you mean about hair ties. My husband is getting very good at pulling my hair back in a pony tail.
Hope you have recovered and are doing well now.

How are you getting on @Happynot? I hope your wrist fracture is recovering well and the swelling has improved. How is your wrist movement?
I broke my wrist in July and am still recovering and trying to get it back to somewhere near normal.
How are you getting on @Evelyn63? I’m interested in everyone’s recovery as I’m 3 months post fracture and interested how everyone else is recovering.
i hope everyone here recovered well , I am 10 weeks post broken wrist surgery and still have some swelling and lots of stiffness in my wrist, started physio which is painful, I guess I just need to be patient - any advice will be welcome.
