swollen knee with instability

i am over 50 yrs

 i am suffering from knee oa i keep hearing exercise is good but when i tray it gets worse help anyone please i am worried to loose my indipendence

1st thing you need to do is get the opinion of an orthopedic specialst. Walking is generally the most recommended excercise but if you have certain conditions, it might be the worst thing you could do. Self diagnosis without adequate knowledge could lead you directly to what you are trying to prevent. Good luck

Try exercise in the pool (aquacize and physio exercises). I worked out in the pool for years as most land exercises hurt tòo much or I just couldn't do them. I strengthened my quadriceps and my whole legs this way before and since both knee replacements. I am 55. One knee is 3 months and the other one year old. I still find the pool the best for rehabilitation. Good luck!
