I had a toe fusion, realignment and bunionectomy 17 days ago, screw, wires and metal plate inserted.
My toe doesn't seem right to me, it's my right toe that I had operated and the surgeon did say that he "over shoot" the break a bit, between my big toe and the second toe I have a gap, almost like a V between the toes, has anyone else experienced this ?
Thanks Terri.
A bit like this Terri? My toe was over corrected as you can see in the one photo, the other photo shows you after I've been wearing a support bandage, the gap will close. Hope this helps x
Exactly like that !
you have given me hope, I thought my toe would be forever seperated from the other toes !
thank you x
Haha, it was scary when I first seen my feet! Lol I thought what have i done, but Dr reassured me with the support bandage it would pull back. Phew lol x
How long did it take for your toe to look good again, I feel that my foot is now alien to me !
Hi terri, do you have bandages on now? It will all start to come together. After stitches were removed the scars seemed to heal really well, I kept on top of icing and elevating and generally being very careful. I had a pin in the second toe for 6 weeks do started to feel better after the pin was removed. I'm now nearly 12 weeks and I'm still icing etc. you'll get there albeit slowly but be patient. Take lots of photos. Yours will help others on their journey. X
Have you got a support bandage? I've worn mine since 2 weeks, it slowly pulled the toe back. It makes a difference, X
Hi x
Ive been using the support bandage for five days, I'm now 23 days post op.
Almost all of the stitches have now dissolved and the scar is looking good.
I'm constantly elevating the foot and the swelling is going down, it's just the gap that's looking weird ! X
