symmetrical soft lumps beneath skin

in a slew of health problems i've been thrown at over the years, this one seems to be the most recent, and possibly most baffling.

i've done my fair share of research about vaginal health. i've been to countless doctors and specialists, too. however, earlier this year i noticed something i hadn't before; tucked away beneath the outer labia and just next to the clitoris sit four small, roughly peanut-sized, squishy, moveable, and painless lumps. they are completely symmetrical and cannot be seen, only felt, as they are hidden beneath skin. they strike me as some sort of muscle or fatty tissue, but i cannot find any information on this. they are entirely painless aside from an occasional ache that pulses about the two nearest to my clitoris. (though i suspect it's linked to cramps, as i have a very strange cycle and experience pms symptoms even weeks not near my period.) i don't know how long they've been there.

any ideas on what those might be? i've gone through countless pictures and forums and even those depicting deep anatomy dissections but can't find anything similar. i'm not able to see a doctor at this point in time thanks to lack of insurance, but i'll be sure to bring it up at the next possible visit.

Hi xalatoh.  I wouldn't worry, what you are describing sounds to me like Bartholin's Glands.  They are in the right place and shape, and every woman has them, only they are not too obvious, they simply help with lubication of the vagina.  Sometimes these get blocked, in what's known as Bartholin's Cysts, but this doesn't seem to be the case in your description.  Perfectly normal, you may just not have noticed them before.

The fact that they are symmetrical implies they are normal. I think that it is possible to examine yourself too closely. But if you are worried, do mention it to your dr next time you see him/her.
