Symptoms After Gallbladder Removal

I had my gallbladder removed 7 months ago and I'm still

suffering with bloating and feeling sick . I just can't eat a meal

It's so bad . Anyone else got the same symptoms after removal ?

Any feedback would be great as doctor not interested.

I am very worried as I'm losing so much weight .

It has been 6months for me. And I still have the same problem. I was retaining fluid also, and can only eat so much and then I either throw up or get diarrhea. I have lost about 25 pounds. The Dr say it was probably water weight.

My stomach feels upset all the time, and I don't eat that much because of the bloating. They say I have autoimmune diseases which is making things worse.

With me I can only manage 2 to 3 small new potatoes and I feel full

and bloated and then I start to feel sick . It takes hours for it to settle

before I can eat again . The weight loss is worrying me as I now look anorexic!

None of my gp's I've seen are bothered and won't send me for tests .

Sorry to hear you’re still suffering!! I still get nausea a lot so take ondansetron for it which seems to help. Also have prochlorperazine prescribed by hospital doctors as was admitted for fluids recently as couldn’t keep any food or drink down so was really dehydrated. I feel so bad for you as know if I was in the position you’re in that my doctor would be concerned and referred for further testing. I know you feel you’re getting nowhere with GP but please keep going back and basically make them send you to see Gastro specialist. Literally could be anything that’s wrong but really think you need to be seen! I read something recently about something called gastroparesis where the stomach doesn’t digest foods properly. The body basically then acts like something is infected so causes pain and vomiting etc xx

Hi Scottie, I take ondansetron when in hospital

but my GP said she can't prescribe it so I'm stuck with the sickness

as other anti sickness give me too many nasty side effects.

I did see a gastroenterologist recently who wanted me to have a camera test

down my throat , this terrifies me and I couldn't go through it so she won't

treat me now .

Linda go for the camera down the throat, I have to have it done yearly and it terrified me.  Take the relaxant injection beforehand believe me you wont even know it happened

Thomas , I can't stand having anything put in my mouth ,

I gag and start to panic . Plus my fear isn't helped by the fact that

a woman walked in to my local hospital for this same procedure and died !!

The person doing it cut something in her throat and they couldn't save her .

That's scared the life out of me !!

What a lot of nonsense! They can prescribe anything they want. I’d tried almost every other anti sickness tablet and none of them helped. I asked to try ondansetron as has also had that in hospital and seems to help.

I really didn’t want to get that camera test either. Basically did it to prove a point to the surgeon as he kept saying it wasn’t my gallbladder. Proved it was though when it came out haha. I got sedated for it so you aren’t aware of what’s going on. Really think you should get it done so you can get some answers! I know it’s scary but can’t go on the way you’re feeling just now xx
