Symptoms and other questions

hey everyone. so I’ve had the same symptoms for around 4 years and I’m only now 99% sure its herpes. so every 2/3 months I get a strange achy/numb feeling on the left side of my labia that usually goes down to my leg, then a day or 2 later i get 1 small sore in the exact same spot on the inside of my labia. I always put it down to a shaving sore as I googled herpes and no pictures ever matched what I have with it just being 1 sore. its sore for the first couple of days then it dissapears. only this time the numbness is all down my right leg and in to my heel. does this sound like type 1 or type 2? and if so what’s the difference? would there be any point going to the doctors if it doesnt cause me much trouble? also I live in England, can I just get a blood test from the doctors rather than messing about going to the sexual health clinic? last question, this is the only symptom I’ve ever had and it really doesn’t cause me much trouble, could it ever spread? thanks so much for your help xx

Hi
Please note that not all people experience classic herpes symptoms and some people experience mild symptoms that can vary from one person to another. Also some women get them inside their vagina so they cannot see them when they are inside.
Yes in England you can ask you GP for IGG blood test for HSV 1 and 2. However your GP might ask you to do it privately as it is not life threatening or not bothering you.

Yes herpes can spread and can be transmitted to different parts of the body so always wash your hands if it is herpes.

It is important to know for sure if it is herpes if you are 99% sure it is. That is because if you are sexually active then by law you will need to inform current or future partners because it is an offence to spread the virus and infect others.
